DID ENGINEERING NEWS RECORD (ENR) WRITE THE COMPLETE AND TRUE STORY??
TUTOR MAY BE HARD-DRIVING WITH BLUM AND MCCARRON, BUT NEEDS
TO CHANGE HIS STYLE WITH HOW HE HANDLES MEMBERS MONEY!
ENR MAKES HIM LOOK LIKE A SAINT BUT IS HE REALLY A VULTURE AT HEART???? TUTOR NEEDS CAUGHT
THE SAME WAY YOU CATCH AN ARMADILLO!!!!!!
WE ARE GOING TO DO IT!!!!!!!
3/1/99 Article by David Rosenbaum of Engineering News
PERINI DEAL Tutor's own deals attracted more attention after the carpenters made a
significant investment in 1996, to help save his long-time joint-venture partner Perini
was reeling from losses on real estate deals. The pension
trust and Washington D.C.-based Union Labor Life Insurance Co. gave Perini a $27-million
infusion. Blum's San Francisco-based firm and Tutor-Saliba put in another $3 million (ENR
11/4/96 p.13). Among some carpenters, the deal stirred up resentment against Douglas J.
McCarron, national president of the carpenters union since 1995 and chairman of the
Southern California pension trust since before Tutor became co-chairman. McCarron also has
a seat in Perini's board.
Why didn't David Rosenbaum from ENR forget to mention that Arthur J. Fox Jr., Senior
Editor of ENR sits on the board of PERINI CONSTRUCTION.
HE also forgot to write how Ron Tutor got to be Co-Chairman of the Carpenters Pension
Trust of So. California, and how he is also president the Association of Contractors.
Why didn't he write that Ron Tutor and Richard Blum are the major partners of Perini
Corp., where $27 million from the Carpenters Pension Trust and ULLICO were invested in
He did mention that the late Mayor Bradley called Tutor a "change order artist".
Ron Tutor became Co-Chair of the Pension Trust after he helped stage the takeover of the
District Council along with Douglas McCarron and John DeCarlo (Union Attorney). Douglas
McCarron sued to District Council and replaced Paul Miller who was Secretary of Treasury
at the time, that's when Doug named Tutor Co-Chair of the Pension Trust.
Who does Ron Tutor think he is???? How dare he say that he helped out the members by
lowering the pension contribution rate???
The retirees who paid the higher rates are being screwed!!! They are the reason why the
plan is healthy and the contribution rate is lower, yet they have not received a decent
increase in more than 20 years. It was proposed that their monthly payments be raised by
$200.00 per month, but instead they increased the pension rate of those working over 1800
hours a year, which means only the administrative employees and the management will take
advantage of this.
We the workers don't need anything from that Ron Tutor, he needs us and our Pension to
help him with his ventures. How dare he take money from our pension plan to help save his
venture partner PERINI, along with Senator Feinstein's husband Richard (DICK) Blum.
Tutor's dictatorial ways don't scare the rank-and-file, we don't work for him or take
orders from him.
He does not deserve the time of day or the respect of the members. Who gives him the right
to take advantage of the pensioners money.
This unapologetic and abrasive little dictator may abuse his puppets Doug McCarron and
Richard (DICK) Blum, but we the members will not kiss his boots. We know he made his
fortune after 1986 when the take over took place. Is this why he has 2 Jets and lives in a
14 room home in a gated community that is worth over $3 million.
Ronald Tutor, Doug McCarron and Richard Blum will not get away with taking members money.
Tutor thinks that we the workers have a hammer in our brains and don't know what is going
on with the pension.
There is a company named RINCON in Temecula which is non union, why are they involved in
PERINI???? This company is 100% non union. Let's not forget that Doug McCarron also known
as Cash McCarron worked cash most of his tool wearing years.

We research and write our information
ourselves. We don't need an Executive Board member of the Department of Water and Power
and Carpenters/Contractors Cooperation Committee to write our words for us.
